Oregon State University

Scholarships

Through the generosity of our donors, the College awarded nearly $400,000 in undergraduate scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year with individual awards ranging from $500 - $7,500. The average cumulative GPA of those students awarded was 3.52. And while scholarships are generally based on academic performance, some are specific to need, degree program, or other criteria set by our donors, so don’t hesitate to apply.  New and current students who are admitted or enrolled in the College of Forestry are eligible to apply for College of Forestry scholarships.

Applications for 2012-13 College of Forestry Scholarships will be accepted beginning November 14, 2011.   IMPORTANT!  The application and application process has changed for the 2012-13 academic year.  The College of Forestry is now using the university-wide scholarship application available through the Scholarship Management System.  Please note, you are still not required to apply for a specific scholarship; rather you can apply to the general CoF scholarship program and if you are selected to receive a scholarship you will be matched to a scholarship based on requirements, GPA, etc..  As always, the College of Forestry must be declared as your primary college and if you are a continuing student you must be making progress in your declared major.

As the application and process has changed, it is important to read through the eligibility and instructions thoroughly before completing the anline application. The application deadline for awards made for the 2012-13 academic year is February 1, 2012 Late applications will not be accepted.

                                                              THE APPLICATION IS NOW CLOSED.

TIP!  In the application, when you are asked what "year in school" or "class level" (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) you will be enrolled in for "2013" that means the 2012-13 academic year.

TIP!  New students should apply for admission to OSU before applying for scholarships as you will need your Student ID number and GAP to apply for forestry scholarships and these numbers will be assigned to you upon applying to OSU.  Your Student ID number will likely begin with 930, 931, or 932 and your GAP will be your six digit birthdate (for example, if you were born on June 4, 1999 your six digit birthdate is 060499).

Please note that in order to be considered for CoF Scholarships you MUST apply for admission to OSU by February 1, 2012.    If you will be a new student to OSU, we recommend that you do not wait until the last day to apply for admission as you will need your OSU Student ID number to apply for forestry scholarships and that number is only generated when you apply for admission to OSU.

  • If you are going to be a new student to OSU for the 2012-13 academic year and you are coming directly from high school the College of Forestry Student Services Office MUST receive copies (unofficial copies are acceptable) of your high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores by February 1, 2012.  We are unable to obtain transcript copies from the OSU Admissions Office which is why you are asked to provide additional copies to the CoF.   Your application will not move through the review process if your transcript is not received by the deadline.  We realize that many high schools do not post grades for the most recent quarter or semester until after the February 1 deadline, however, we must have the most recent transcript available by February 1, 2012, even if the term just completed is not documented on the paperwork.  Scholarship decisions are based on overall academic performance, among other factors, not solely on the most recent term completed.

  • If you are going to be a new student to OSU for the 2012-13 academic year and you are transferring from another university or a community college, the CoF Student Services Office MUST receive copies (unofficial copies are acceptable) of your previous university/college transcripts by February 1, 2012.   Your application will not move through the review process if your transcript is not received by the deadline.

  • Current OSU students do not need to provide transcript copies.

Questions regarding the application process or timeline can be directed to the CoF Student Services Office, 140 Peavy Hall, Corvallis, OR 97331, or 541-737-1594 or email Kira Hughes
